Community Ministry

All Souls is committed to developing and promoting comprehensive ministries that engage our culture, our city, and our world. We are also committed to growing in our awareness of the need for compassion and justice around us.

Community Service
We believe it is important to be a church that serves our community and world. As followers of Christ we are called to be co-laborers with God. We are called to bring God's healing, peace and reconciliation to our city and world. In the death and resurrection-life of Jesus, God has begun to bring his restoration and hope to the world. Even in our broken world, we see the rule and reign of Christ over every part of His Creation. He has given us the privilege and responsibility to model his life-giving Kingdom now and to bring a taste of what his reign will ultimately be. Our church must be proactive in working towards and with this Kingdom of justice, mercy, compassion and healing. We are called to serve our King and to stand for what our King stands for. We stand against injustice because God hates injustice. We care for the environment because God made the world, loves the world and has called us to be stewards of this world. We serve the poor, stand up for the abused, defend the marginalized, because that is what the Kingdom of God is all about.

There can be many wrong motives for serving: we see a need and feel guilty that we have been blessed so richly, or we think that serving will make God love us more, or we think serving will make us feel better about ourselves.

At All Souls, we want to be people who are motivated by the profound love of God for us in Christ. We don't serve SO THAT God will love us. We serve BECAUSE God loves us. The Grace of the Gospel motivates us to radical acts of love and service that guilt and fear never will.

Community Awareness

One of the ways we have continued to "practically" increasing our involvement in justice issues and expanding our involvement in community ministry is through informational meetings, seminars and events to promote awareness of needs.

Not for Sale Worldwide, more people are in slavery right now than were in enslaved during the entire African Slave Trade - 27 Million people!. This is unacceptable! We must continue to learn more about what we can do, where we can take stands and how we can fight against this injustice. We will occasionally have informational events about this need and learn how we can get involved with local organizations that are fighting slavery today. http://www.notforsalecampaign.org/

Innocence Atlanta is a non-profit organization that is focused on exposing the sex slave industry and connecting like-minded organizations that can work together to eradicate child sex slavery and exploitation in Atlanta.
Through Innocence Atlanta, we have connected individuals, small groups and our church to local needs and events that promote freedom and fight the exploitation of minors in the city of Atlanta.

From a biblical perspective, "the environment" is God's creation. Creation care is something we must get behind. It means caring for all of creation and recognizing our responsibility in cultivating, sustaining and protecting God's world. We will continue to host events like God Is Green, will keep the issue of Creation Stewardship before our congregation and city, and will provide information about how we can individually and corporately promote creation care.
