Gatherings

At All Souls, we make every effort to provide opportunities for you to connect with other folks in the church. The best place for this connection is our Community Groups, or one of the other ministries. But you may be saying, "Hold on a minute! What if I'm not ready to commit to a Community Group?" Or, "What if I'm not a woman?!" In other words, you might just want to check out the church and get to know some people in a more informal setting, with no strings attached.

Well, we completely understand. That's why we have created some venues just for you.

Newcomer Dessert
These typically follow a week or two after our quarterly Membership Seminars and are held in one of our member's homes. There is no agenda, other than hanging out, eating some great desserts, and having a glass of wine (or two).

Who comes to these things? Basically, anyone can come. But generally the All Souls staff are always there (we never turn down an invite to a good party!), along with some ministry leaders and those who have just completed the Membership Seminar. In addition to these folks, we specifically invite ANYONE who is new to All Souls and just wants to meet some new people. These desserts are usually a big hit and great fun. And you are welcome to bring your kids.

Vision Nights
O.K. The first thing we want you to know is that we don't like the name "Vision Night". It just sounds awfully programmatic and "churchy". But we have honestly not been able to figure out what else to call it.

This is basically our "State of the Church" meeting; only we turn it into a party. Good food. Good drink. Music. And the chance to mingle and meet new people.

At these gatherings, which are usually once per year (sometimes twice if we are feeling unusually ambitious), you will hear about new initiatives starting up in the church, as well as updates on existing ministries and challenges. You will also be given the opportunity to get plugged into a Ministry Team and find your place to serve. This is an Adult-Only event. But we will provide childcare.

Community Group Rush
Once a year, just before the new ministry year kicks off in the Fall, we gather all the Community Group Leaders and Hosts, as well as a number of folks who attend the groups, for a "Rush". Then we invite everyone who is interested in getting involved in a Community Group.

This is exactly what it sounds like. Each of the groups will share stories from their groups and do everything they can to convince you that their group is the best thing out there. It sounds like a competition, but it is actually really fun. Even more than that, it is always deeply encouraging to hear the accounts of what God is doing in our Community Groups, how lives are being changed, and how people are being cared for in extraordinary ways. Childcare is provided.
